SJ Sharks_Boucher Helmet Logo by matthiason SJ Sharks_Boucher Helmet Logo by matthiason
Part of my Rebranding the NHL set from a few years back... Somehow it ended up on the helmet of NHL goalie Brian Boucher... I found the artist who painted the helmet, but he wouldn't give me any compensation for it. And if I threatened to sue, then he would just have it repainted. So I would rather have someone use it and be able to brag about it then try to fight for a little pocket change... even though I could use every penny right about now...

Link to helmet: [link]

And if anyone out there has any advice, then feel free to leave some!

I can't help you out with any legalities especially since it has been 2 years lol, I was wondering if I could pay you for use of this logo?

Total bullcrap! Sue the bastard! Then punch him in the face. Then take his mother out to a fine dining restaurant. Then take a picture of his mother. Vectorize it. Place it on your site. Make sure you post it around the web. Hell...maybe sell it as a logo to a team.... Shouldn't be an issue. Boom. Done.

Being in the legal field and not in the artistic community, if that was his attitude I would have let him use it, then sued him anyway! ha

No, actually because I'm in the legal field and just going off what you wrote in your intro, I think you made the right decision and the most reasonable one a person could make (in other words I admire that kind of attitude), even though the guy is a total jerk.

I'm huge Sharks fan and season ticket holder for 20 yrs and this is the first time I've ever seen your page. It's awesome!

It's your great hard work & not to give you any of the money or recognition. I been in 2 lawsuits and won over this same thing. I say sue them Matt!!!

who was the guy who ripped your design, anyway? I always find it important to get to know who those bastards are, maybe they have been ripping other designers works, too, yknow?

Artists stealing from other artists is like a wolf suddenly deciding... hey, why don't I just eat other wolves?

Have you tried sending a letter to Boucher?

Hockey players are very salt of the earth kind of folk and explaining the situation and what the so called "artist" responded with may get some results.

Hey, I'm a little late on this topic but it's still pretty insane. Here's a pic showing the logo in full: [link]

I read the comment about asking for the mask in exchange. I know it's way past the point where anything could have been done, you could have contacted HP Pavilion (since that seems to be the only available contact) and seen if you could get in touch with the front office from there. If you're still interested in getting that mask or anything like that I'm sure you could do the same with the Flyers organization.

hmm... I always thought that goalies just painted over their old masks. Can't hurt to try though...

Hmmm, I've never heard that before. I guess they could always just apply a base coat and go over it. I would think that after it gets dinged and marked they would commission a new mask.
